Getting Started
Through an application process, 46 teachers were identified to participate in ongoing, individualized, intensive technology training. Teachers were assessed to determine their level of competency and the schedule of courses was adjusted to meet their needs. Teachers participated in 60+ hours of technology training to increase their understanding and use of internet research, electronic communication, spreadsheets, databases, and multimedia presentations. In lieu of pay, teacher participants were assigned a portable computer with ClarisWorks, Claris Organizer, Netscape, First Class™ E Mail, and content software. Modems provided access, both in the classroom and at home, to the internet, e-mail, and an on-line interactive learning community.
Pattonville has eight private schools within our district. All eight were contacted regarding their staff development needs and their desire to participate in the CLOUDS project. The teaching staff of these schools was invited to participate in all CLOUDS training. |
