Organizations are struggling with the missing component of computer usage--Staff Development.  No one wants to see computers collecting dust, but traditional models of staff development are ineffective for teaching computer use and helping teachers develop methods to integrate computers into instruction.  One time sessions, before school, after school, to pay or not to pay, are all approaches which have been less than successful.   Current research indicates that teachers need the following to be effective technology users:

  • ongoing, individualized, intensive training
  • access to technology at home
  • one-to-one mentoring and coaching
  • communication with colleagues to share and problem solve.

The CLOUDS project was designed to address each of these needs.
